Collins Aerospace Hiring for Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Improvement Projects at Bengaluru, Karnataka Full Time

Collins Aerospace has one-of-a-kind production process, which is few decades old, it requires major change-over to be competitive in aerospace market. Manual processes need to be studied in micro level, develop a solution such as mechanizing, semi automation, full automation.

Expectation form Candidate

Strong physics fundamentals, with latest engineering/technology knowledge is required to explore various aspects of process improvements. Experience in hand calculations, analytical software tool usage.

Hands on experience in any domain from Aerospace, Automobile, Textile, Polymer.

Hands on experience in productivity Improvement, Time-Motion Study.

Hand on Experience in CAD tools such as Pro E, CATIA, AutoCAD etc. Part modelling, Assembly, detail drawing creation.

Hands on experience with ACE/CI tools such as VSM, RRCA, Time Study, TPM etc

Hand on experience in toll and fixture design. Shall have an experience in process start from requirement, create concepts, CAD modelling, conducting trials, and production release.

Hand on experience on managing a manufacturing line, by handling Problem Solving, Quality Notification, Technical Disposition, Tool and fixture, Continuous improvements etc.

Work with multiple functions, such as external supplier (automation, electro-mechanical, handling flexible material), non-product purchase, Line Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operational Excellence, Production supervisors, Engineering (Indian/US counterpart) etc.

Knowledge in various compliances such as environmental policies, haz/non haz, ITC, EHS, Ergonomics etc.

Knowledge in electromechanical, hydraulics, robotics, pneumatics, various electrical/electronic sensors etc.

Knowledge in IIoT, Industry 4.0 – Smart Factory.

Flexible in working various manufacturing sites, and shift timings. Also, flexible to visit supplier sites during trials.

Areas of Responsibilities

1. Conduct Time Motion Study, Requirement Creation

Study all manual processes, conduct time motion study, categorize, develop business case. Documentation of requirements in detail. Gather, validate, and document Voice of the End user.

2. Conceptualization and Trials

Conceptualize solution in CAD, hand calculation. Work with supplier to develop Proof of Concepts. Conduct trials and document.

3. Develop and Prove Process Improvement Solution.

Search and Develop supplier suitable for conceptual solution. Go through Non product purchase, up on PO release work with supplier to develop the solution. Conduct trials, convert all developmental drawing/calculation/design to engineering document.

4. Finance Aspect of Productivity Improvement

Estimation of automation budget. Create business case with ROI. CapEx estimation.

5. Support Consolidation of Technology Road map

Study, involve technical experts and create a technology road map to improve existing manufacturing process based on the feasibility.

6. Validation/Qualification, Engineering Approvals of New Machines/tools

Work with Engineering and documents the trials design, test data. Work with Engineering for approval and CCB release. Create/Review CAD drawings, Technical Specifications, Work Instructions,

7. Line Manufacturing Engineering Activities

Manufacturing Engineering Activities such as SAP MM, BOM, Routing Creation, SJI/WI, PFMEA, trouble shoot and problem solving, QN dispositions etc.

8. Manufacturing Readiness Level and Assessment

MRL process actions of new improvements. Invention disclosures of new concepts.

9. Represent ME Function in various forums

PIP, Automation, Idea Events, CapEx, Macro Plan, MRL, Cost Savings, Management Reviews, Control Tower Data etc.

10. Support Engineering Trials / Qualification

Engineering projects support like new bonding methodology, alternate marking, etc.

11. Industry 4.0 Support

Work on improving shop floor visual improvements, IIoT, Digitalization.
