What we’re looking for

The Firmware Engineer must be experienced in all aspects of design from concept and requirements definition through delivery of production caliber embedded firmware and software applications as evidenced by multiple successful designs. This position will function in multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects. The position requires frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, concepts and techniques. Candidates will be providing solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity, working under general supervision. The Firmware Engineer directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within an area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties.

1+ years Engineering design experience and a Bachelors Degree in Engineering

Ability to design, develop or modify embedded software and firmware for new and existing products

Works with hardware engineers to design and document system architecture for new products

Recognizable knowledge of C, C++ coding with experience on Linux and RTOS based systems

Understanding and working knowledge of hardware drivers, ISRs, common embedded peripherals (PWM, timers etc.) and multitasking applications

Experience with bash shell scripting, Python scripting (or equivalent) to enable functional board level testing

Excellent technical documentation skills and high standards for documentation

Hands-on experience troubleshooting using a wide variety of lab test equipment

Proficient in working with 16/32-bit microprocessors and/or DSPs with multiple peripherals and communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, USB)

Comfortable using GitHub and other version control systems as part of the development and release process

Experience in working with multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) (Electrical Engineering)

Strong analytical skills, including analysis, simulation and prediction for complex multidisciplinary systems

Experience with one or more embedded microcontrollers and IDE/toolchains e.g.) Microchip SAMD, NXP RT1064, ST Micro STM32H7

Experience with or more microprocessors and IDE/toolchains e.g.) Microchip SAMA5, NXP i.MX7, Xilinx Zynq 7, Xilinx Zynq MPSoC

Experience in product development from prototype to production launch

Demonstrated ability to manage technical and schedule risks

A strong advocate for design process and process improvement
