There are large structural differences in cancer care and in the availability of radiotherapy between countries and regions. While 50–60 percent of all cancer patients require radiotherapy, 40–60 percent of them lack access – many of these are living in this region. Investing in expanding radiotherapy access in low- and middle-income countries would save lives and lead to substantial economic benefits.

Access to government and intelligence on their focus and public health strategy play a major role in being successful when increasing patient access to cancer treatment and specifically radiotherapy to emerging and developing markets.

As the Governmental Affairs & Market Development Manager for our TIMEA region (Turkey, India, Middle East & Africa) you will have a critical role in making a difference. You will be maintaining existing networks, build new relations and act as the Elekta key account manager of governments and public institutions, while shaping the external environment in the region to support key business objectives. The fundamental groundwork is put in place and tested, now the focus is to continue driving already initiated projects and scale into more markets. Together with regional leadership teams and the Corporate Governmental Affairs function you will continue to develop our market access strategy and its successful implementation in this vast region.

Responsibilities:

• Develop relations with governments and other critical stakeholders in selected countries to support the business development and increase patient access to radiotherapy (incl. Swedish Govt. relations and activities in this region)
• Develop knowledge base and understanding of current and potential future healthcare/oncology policy changes in emerging markets and implications for Elekta’s business
• Continue to implement the B2G model that integrates public policy, market access, funding opportunities and wider commercial priorities into strategic PA engagement and platforms
• Take a consultancy role in cancer planning with selected countries’ governments together with Elekta experts. Create a funnel of executable projects.
• Represent Elekta within/across the international political/industry communities relevant for this region
• Through government access mitigate crises such as tender issues etc.
• Take part in Corp. GA strategy and activities as needed

Relevant knowledge, skills and competencies:

We are looking for you who are a relationship builder with C-suite and high-level government experience and are passionate about what we and you do. You must be persistent, creative, driven and to be able to work autonomously in order to carry out this role successfully.

Essential requirements:

• Leadership experience of strategic long-term projects at multinational company
• Proven track record to deliver on governmental projects in emerging markets by influencing external stakeholders to shape the environment supporting commercial and corporate interests
• A clear team player; strong track record in working in complex, multi-functional, multi-cultural and international environments, including having lived and worked outside of home country
• An excellent communicator; evidence of strong independence and innovative seeker of strategic solutions; a strongly conceptual thinker; forward looking
• Bachelor/University Degree/MBA or similar, preferably public health, business & admin, political affairs
• Excellent communication skills in English; oral, written and presentation
• Be based in the region and willing to travel frequently
