The work schedule for this position is Full Time (40 hours per week)
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Must be available to travel throughout India to develop professional contacts and create content.
Basic Function of the Position: The incumbent will serve as the Copy Editor of SPAN Magazine (Urdu) and will work under the direct supervision of the SPAN Strategic Content Production Specialist. S/he will have no supervisory responsibilities. S/he will be responsible for editing, proofreading, and fact-checking all print and visual elements of SPAN public engagement and strategic content, including creation and/or acquisition of customized print and visual content, which is disseminated in SPAN Magazine, on the SPAN website and social media, the Embassy’s official social media accounts, through email newsletters, Indian traditional media publications, and online; as well as the digital distribution of SPAN Magazine and content on the SPAN website and social media accounts, and through email newsletter campaigns. S/he will create compelling content for all SPAN outreach materials by assessing aspects of India’s media environment, public preferences for print and visual content formats and dissemination channels, and the impact of SPAN strategic content. The incumbent will also perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
The position requires three years of experience in journalism, creation and editing of print content for traditional or online media organizations, publishing houses, digital marketing advertising or mass communications purposes, including extensive experience as an advanced end user of industry standard desktop and mobile software applications, internet and related communications technologies, and integration of visual content into web content management systems in a media or journalistic operation. Drafting and editing of print or online articles and market research and audience analysis must have been significant components of the job. The position requires the completion of a University degree in Journalism, Advertising, Mass Communications, Marketing, or Urdu.

LANGUAGE:
Level 4 (Fluent) in English (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) is required. This may be tested.
AND
Level 4 (Fluent) in Urdu (Speaking, Reading, and Writing) is required. This may be tested.
