Job Description
Role Purpose:
As a key aide to both the IT Infrastructure and Development teams, you will help support existing systems 24×7 and responsible for administering DB2LUW environments on AIX and LINUX environments.
The candidate may also be called upon to support database design and development efforts.
To support the product development process in line with the product roadmap for product maintenance and enhancement such that the quality of software deliverables maintains excellent customer relationships and increases the customer base.
Seeking candidate with 10-15 years of experience.
Major Job Functions:
Responsibilities:
Participate in database design discussions with both software developers and DBAs
Translate business requirements and logical designs into working physical database designs working with Global Development teams.
Collaborate and communicate with all levels of technical management
Will require on-call 24X7 support of production systems on a rotation basis with other team members
Support for DB2LUW Databases V11.1, and V11.5 (new) environments.
Support of multiple UAT, Development (and other such needed environments with similar architecture).
Hands On experience in database software installs, patching, upgrades, utilities, monitoring, trouble shooting, tablespace management, and handling user requests
Experience installing and maintaining HADR and TSAMP configuration
Create high availability environments using HADR, Q-Replication, Attunity, Purescale, or other software.
Strong skills in backup and recovery procedures.
Participate in DR (business continuity) exercises and document the process
Assist in the review and audit of database security policies, and experience to work closely with the security and auditing teams (internal and external as required).
Ensure high quality and stability of services provided.
Open and coordinate service requests with IBM Support
Participate in DB2LUW Team meetings
Ensure alignment with current IT standards and controls
Review and evaluate performance of the databases
Perform change control requests (code deployments) when approved.
Schedule Monthly, Quarterly maintenance windows when required.
Additional responsibilities include support of MongoDB environments; providing support for installations, upgrades, and other work as requested.
Teamwork
To work as part of a team to achieve the departmental standards.To work together with other departments and divisions within the organisation to identify any process improvements and improve standards, efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge / Skills / Experience:
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent, and 5-8 years of related experience.
Strong knowledge supporting High availability architecture with relevant experience V10.5 and V11.1
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are required
Experience of managing multiple RDBMS on large systems
At least 10 years of IT DBA DB2LUW experience
Experience on large DB2LUW partitioned (DPF) database implementations
Experience of working in a team that delivers a high availability service.
Experience in review of Access Plans with the dba team and developers to make recommendations
Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service
Knowledge of federated databases
Knowledge and understanding of the business strategy and use of back office applications.
Ability to adapt to multi-lingual and multicultural environment, additional language skills are a bonus.
Ability to handle conflicting priorities.
