Job Description Summary

Successful candidate will be a part of Rotor Mechanical team in the Renewable Engineering CoE. The role offers design, analysis, supplier qualification, testing and hardware ownership opportunity focusing on mechanical components of wind turbine rotor (hub castings, internals – fabricated structures, bolted joints, pitch gearbox and accessories etc.).

Roles and Responsibilities

• Design/Structural Analysis (Finite Element Analysis – FEA) of wind turbine rotor mechanical components

• Responsible for Design, development and testing to prove component function and reliability

• Create and revise drawings, specifications and design practices applying GE and industry processes and standards

• Work cross functionally with quality teams, manufacturing engineers, sourcing, suppliers, field support and others to improve product quality and first time yield

• Support manufacturing, sourcing and field support with issue resolution and quick corrective actions for design related causes (NCR, SDR, PAC)

• Support technical root cause analysis of field failures and identify design related corrective actions to prevent recurrence

• Support global supply chain activities for quality assurance and fulfillment across the globe

• Identify and execute cost saving ideas and strategies

• Implement lessons learned, best practices and standardization into drawings, specifications, design practices and processes

Required Qualifications

• Masters in Mechanical/Civil/Aerospace Engineering

• 2+ yrs of experience in mechanical/structural components design in Wind or other industry

Desired Characteristics

• Working knowledge of Ansys Workbench or other finite element analysis (FEA) tools

• Working knowledge of 3D-CAD tools like Unigraphics

• Strong engineering fundamentals, understanding of drawings, GD&T, component & system design

• Good understanding on manufacturing processes e.gcasting, fabrication etc. and the tools/fixtures associated with them

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
