IFC’s Delhi office is seeking an intern as part of our Global Internship Program (GIP). The Global Internship Program (GIP) offers highly motivated individuals an opportunity to be exposed to the mission and work of the IFC and the broader World Bank Group and become part of the largest private sector development institution in the world. The program encourages individuals to bring new perspectives and innovative ideas to IFC’s work while improving skills in a diverse and highly stimulating environment. Moreover, the Global Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and network with international professionals dedicated to ending extreme poverty and boosting prosperity in the developing world.
The Internship period will be between May 2023– July 2023.
Duties and Accountabilities:
India Impact Intern:
- S/he will report directly to the Country Manager, in India and the main tasks of the Intern will include the following:
- Work with established sectors/industry leads to draft and finalize an IFC-specific ‘Impact Report’ that analyses IFC’s development impact across sectors and geographies within India.
- Analyze, map and document IFC investment and advisory projects in India to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and key priorities as outlined in the National Development Agenda.
- Closely monitor new projects and exotic financial products offered to corporate conglomerates.
- Prepare short pitch notes using impact analysis & reporting for internal & external stakeholders.
- Create a set of supporting case studies on IFC’s key sectors of operations in India using quantitative and qualitative data.
South-South Cooperation Intern:
- Support South-South investment and advisory opportunities aligned with both local priorities and IFC’s global strategies. India is home to multiple large-scale corporates with the technical, financial, and strategic capacities and priorities to invest globally, especially in IFC’s countries of operation across the Emerging Markets and Developing Countries in Africa.
- Conduct research to identify potential South-South projects with strong development impact and priority sectors or cross-cutting themes (e.g., climate, gender, etc.)
- Map existing IFC clients looking to enter African markets in key sectors identified.
- Liaise with respective industry focal points and stakeholders to support internal and external due diligence for IFC’s mobilization efforts under the South-South investment platform.
- Develop sectoral pitch notes to emphasize cross-continent South-South investment from Asia to Africa to help Indian investors leverage IFC’s strong local market knowledge to enter a new market or invest abroad.
Selection Criteria
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’ s degree level program with an expected graduation date after December 1st, 2023, to be eligible.
- Field of study, Master’s in Business Administration (MBA); specializing in Finance or Economics
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience
- Must have the ability to work in India (either citizenship or OCI card)
