Position Summary

The Senior Manager, AMEA Communications, will be responsible for supporting Illumina’s internal and external communications efforts across Illumina’s Asia, Middle East, and Africa region, with a focus on the company’s growing Global Capability Center in Bengaluru, India. This position reports to the Director, AMEA Communications.

Position Responsibilities

50%: Internal Communications: Asia, Middle East and Africa region

• With AMEA Communications Director, build an internal editorial calendar for AMEA team, including employee stories, feature stories on Workplace, eSignage across region facilities, region Town Halls content
• Act as communications business partner to AMEA GMs/Country Managers, optimizing communications to ensure transparency and open dialogue and supporting hiring goals
• Plan and manage internal events such as townhalls, and partner with HR on communicating local and regional employee engagement initiatives
• Work with Talent team on communications initiatives to position Illumina as an employer of choice in India, across AMEA
• Craft internal communications materials, including employee emails and Workplace posts
• Collaborate with Corporate Communications team to ensure consistency and messaging alignment

50%: External Communications: Asia, Middle East and Africa region

• With AMEA Communications Director and AMEA marketing teams, identify PR and communication opportunities and coordinate execution. Develop an external editorial calendar.
• Draft and distribute engaging communications materials, including press releases and media pitches, briefing notes, speeches, presentations, FAQs, social media posts, and web copy
• Support sub-regional General Managers with external communications, including developing thought leadership content
• Coordinate and support AMEA PR agency activities for announcements and campaigns
• Contribute to the global communications team’s editorial calendar; flag any proactive media opportunities for the AMEA region overall; align for consistency and messaging alignment

Qualifications

Experience must include:

• Degree in communications, public relations, or a related field
• 8-10 years of experience in corporate communications and/or a PR agency setting, ideally with expertise in both internal and external communications
• Working directly with executive leadership in a communications capacity
• Creating and implementing employee communications and external communications strategies
• Knowledge of the media landscape in the AMEA region

The Ideal Candidate Also Has

• Experience working with government affairs or public policy teams as well as marketing and commercial teams
• A clear head in times of crisis, and an ability to work through complex communications in rapid fashion
• Experience working in a multi-cultural environment

Location:

This job is hub and hybrid and based in Bengaluru near Illumina’s facility. Some travel across the AMEA region may also be required for meetings, events, and projects requiring support.
