Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Looking For Research and Development Staff at Bangalore Urban, Karnataka, Full Time

Role: Multiple research staff positions are available in the DREAM:Lab, Department of Computational and Data Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. This is a fast-paced technical position which involves research and development into Systems for Machine Learning in Edge and Cloud computing. Candidates will have the opportunity to learn state-of-the-art topics on distributed systems and data science, and apply them to projects of national importance such as autonomous vehicles, genomics, COVID-19 management and National Supercomputing Mission.

Some of the topic areas include:

• Platforms and systems for federated and distributed deep learning
• Data and analytics platforms for IoT/Edge computing
• Scheduling and orchestration of ML workloads
• Real-time analytics for Personalized UAV fleet

Successful candidates will work closely with post-graduate students to architect new algorithms and distributed platforms, develop software prototypes, run large-scale systems experiments, and publish research papers at leading venues. Past staff members have gone on to do higher studies abroad at top universities.

Skills:

• Candidates should have a B.E. or B.Tech. degree in Computer Science, EECS, Mechanical or related subjects within the past 3 years.
• 1-2 years of industry experience is strongly encouraged.
• Candidates should have strong programming skills in Python with experience in working with large code-bases. Additional knowledge of Java, C and/or C++ is welcome. Familiarity with Linux, scripting, automation, debugging and plotting is expected. Participation in competitive coding or knowledge of GPU architecture is a plus.
• Those with working knowledge of machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow/PyTorch, virtualization technologies such as Docker, edge/accelerator platforms such as Raspberry Pi, Nvidia Jetson/ Nvidia GPUs and robotics frameworks like ROS and Gazebo are preferred.
