We are looking for emotionally sensitive candidates with excellent problem-solving skills who are committed to helping people better their lives. That candidate should have a research orientation. Candidate is required to build suitable models and tests for the purpose of evaluating the mental health of an individual. Counseling psychologists should be expert problem solvers with good diagnostic skills. This requires a highly analytical mindset and the ability to understand people on a psychoanalytic level.

Psychologist Responsibilities:

Counseling psychologist responsibilities revolve around their clients’ wellness and mental health. They may work with different types of client problems, or they may specialize in a specific area, such as: Relationships, Substance abuse, Career advice, Grief counseling.

• Conduct research to develop or improve diagnostic or therapeutic counseling techniques.

• Analyze data such as interview notes, test results, and reference manuals in order to identify symptoms, and to diagnose the nature of clients’ problems.
• Assessing patients and identifying their problems.
• Engaging in discussion with patients and making them feel comfortable.
• Implementing individualized treatment programs.
• Undertaking psychometric testing.
• Collect information about individuals or clients, using interviews, case histories, observational techniques, and other assessment methods.
• Evaluating patient responses to treatment over time.
• Develop therapeutic and treatment plans based on clients’ interests, abilities, and needs.
• Offering both one-on-one and group counseling.
• Keeping a detailed account of patient mental health history.
• Establishing collaborative working relationship with the client, based on trust and respect.
• Planning and implementing specialist psychological treatments to help clients to understand their feelings/behavior.
• Evaluate the results of counseling methods to determine the reliability and validity of treatments.

Psychologist Relevant Skills: –

• Interpersonal skills, as part of the counselling process are building a trusting relationship with clients.
• Analytical skills, as counselling psychologists will need to evaluate their patient to discover their issues.
• Written communication skills, as counselling psychologists will need to keep detailed reports of their client’s progress. They will also contribute to research papers and must be able to write well.
• Empathy and compassion, as counselling psychologists will have to work with clients with lots of issues.
• Verbal communication skills, as counselling psychologist will need to communicate effectively with their clients and with other healthcare professionals (e.g., psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians).
• A non-judgmental approach, as counselling psychologists must not pass judgement or advice onto a client’s actions or feelings.

Qualification & Experience:

• Masters in Psychology (Clinical or Counselling)
• 1 year of working in relevant domain i.e., research, clinic, private practice etc.
