Job Description

As a researcher with J.S Held, you will work closely with global teams that provide companies, legal counsel, financial institutions, government agencies, and high-profile individuals with the information required to make well-informed business and legal decisions.

We advise in multijurisdictional regulatory inquiries and investigations, compliance issues, business transactions, and legal proceedings. With experts located across the globe, we deliver local support to clients in North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East.

You’ll be responsible for undertaking extensive research on specific jurisdictions, sectors, companies, or individuals, as well as manage integration of primary and secondary research into cohesive reports that advise clients on the risks involved in proposed investments or business transactions.

Job Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

• Support private equity firms and financial institutions in key investment decisions by advising them on commercial, legal, regulatory and compliance matters globally
• Undertake investigative research including extensive public domain and media research into companies and individuals to assess the overall reputation and identify red flags
• Searches include corporate filings, litigations, regulatory databases and international watchlists, amongst others.
• Co-ordinate with supporting teams, including field teams, involved in investigation, and integrating their inputs in order to present thorough analysis of the case
• Prepare comprehensive and elaborative research reports summarizing the investigative findings gathered through research and market intelligence
• Prepare research reports on industry sectors, specific laws and regulations, geopolitical risks, amongst others
• Be actively involved in preparing proposals and sales pitches for prospective clients
• Support other practices of the company, as and when required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Experience: 2-5 years in Corporate Intelligence, Integrity Due Diligence, Asset Tracing, Investigations, Senior Management Due Diligence, Market Intelligence, and Strategic Risk Advisory
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Commerce, International Business, Politics, Finance, Commerce, or in subjects relevant to the investigation field
• Strong primary and secondary research skills with minimal oversight. Proficient in use of AI for research tasks.
• Proficiency in using MS Office products such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Deep understanding of research techniques, databases, and report drafting. Familiarity with research platforms, such as Factiva, LexisNexis, CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, etc.
• Ability to summarize information quickly and effectively from multiple sources into concise analytical assessments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Integrity & Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest professional standards
• Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
• Awareness of the business/economic environment in India and globally.

Physical And Mental Job Qualifications

• Able to commute to our Mumbai, India office on a hybrid schedule.
