As one of fastest growing practice in DAS, Infrastructure and Climate Advisory (ICA) team at KGS invites like-minded professionals to help us drive progress and change. At KGS ICA practice, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team across a range of industries to assist public and private sector organizations involved in infrastructure to deliver desired outcomes, for society and businesses. We are the Centre of Excellence for KPMG’s Global practices, helping our clients to develop better understanding of the evolving policy and regulatory environment, business and commercial risks, as well as providing commercial and strategic advice on complex infrastructure and capital projects. You will work on a wide range of infrastructure sectors including transportation, digital and social infrastructure (education, healthcare), with diverse clientage a diverse range of clientele such as public sector entities, infrastructure owners, project developers, large corporates, contractors, equity investors, and financers.

The role will be based out of any of KPMG’s offices (Gurugram /Bangalore/ Mumbai) and liaise cross-functionally with leaders across the business to drive internal and external engagement.

Roles & responsibilities

The role will involve primarily working in the Power and Utilities sector (P&U)

Diving into the key activities and expectations for this position, you will be responsible for the following:

Infrastructure Strategy & Operations Leadership

Our Infrastructure Strategy & Operations team is involved in advising clients on their challenges relating to market, changing business drivers and influences, regulatory and economic environment, policy and strategy decisions. We operate as a center-of-excellence for our member firms in this area and KPMG’s clientele include Government Infrastructure authorities, Multilaterals, and Asset-heavy organizations. We are multi-sectoral, working across Power & Utilities, Transportation, Social Infrastructure and Major capital programmes

Business Development

• Strategize and drive growth across P&U sub-sectors through the development of market packs/collaterals for KPMG’s advisory propositions in Infrastructure
• Support KPMG onshore teams in business development initiatives, including the preparation of proposals and bid responses to foster growth.

Delivering Client Engagements

• Working alongside KPMG member firms in different geographies; applying management frameworks and strategic thinking skills to propose innovative solutions. Leveraging desktop research to develop structured hypothesis, compelling narratives and storyboards, analyzing data to derive insights and suggest data-driven strategic options. Display a keen awareness of sector and business specific regulation, technical depth and business model synthesis
• Co-deliver engagements working with a team of juniors / individually (as needed), ensuring consistency with quality, adherence to KPMG compliances and standards, with an eye on value add at each stage.
• Apply a combination of consulting experience, industry knowledge, tools, technology & analytics to anticipate and address challenges with client and colleague teams

Practice Development

• Direct, manage, and mentor junior team members on engagements and contribute to the overall development and experience of the team.
• Contribute to knowledge management and thought leadership to support practice development.

Qualifications

Educational qualifications

• MBAs / Postgraduates in /Infrastructure Management, or a closely related field from a reputable Indian or international institution is highly desirable.
• Graduation in fields related to Finance / Economics is preferred

Prior Experience

• Relevant Power and utilities experience of 8+ years, and/or experience gained in global research and consulting firms (preferred but not mandatory) or with the industry experience in following sectors: Transportation, Power and Utilities, Water and Urban Infrastructure..

Mandatory technical & functional skills

Business Strategy

• Understanding of strategic aspects of managing an organization, government institution. Ability to conduct thorough research, analyze business models, markets, demand drivers, risks, mitigation measures, regulation, funding and financing.
• Deep understanding of Economic and regulatory aspects of P&U sector, tariff determination, operational efficiency improvement, etc.
• Excellent oral and written presentation skills. Familiarity with MS Office suite.
• Awareness of tools, techniques for Data analysis. Knowledge of Databases, relevant for research uses
