Key Deliverables of the Role

Build design capabilities to develop innovative, efficient and functional packaging for Foods, Edible oil and Hair care products like gels and cream formats for higher margins/Differentiation for market leadership
Conceptualize new ideas for new products and the systems used to make them in Hair and Foods category for Marico products for domestic business to get Packaging leadership
Seek opportunity to modify existing product design for Value addition, both with respect to cost and consumer delight
Be abreast of latest global packaging developments/Innovations to present and execute relevant/new concepts/ideas and technologies for Marico
Regularly benchmark/scan relevant packaging formats and technology for both direct and indirect competition and generate relevant insights for Marico
Maintain strong connect and develop model for continuous sourcing of packaging components with right mix of speed, quality and cost based on brand requirement to create uniqueness in Mkt. place along with sourcing team.
Closely interact with CTI team to create new opportunities in developing innovative formats through consumer insights
Ensure the designs made are feasible and viable for the business
Execute optimal packaging concepts from inception to execution with scientific mindset on predictability and creating unique ideas in terms of design, functionality which could be registered or patented for Marico

Critical Competencies

Expertise in Designing FMCG packaging with design tools like ACAD, CATIA or Solid Works for product designing. Understanding of process at Mould maker, Supplier, Factory end and in market condition
Strong Networking skills, influencing skills, negotiation skills, teamwork, project management skills along with leadership quality to develop the team as well as handle projects independently
Handling diversity e.g. working knowledge of functionality in Rigid & Flexible packaging, decoration technologies for personal care products like Hair oil, tonics, serums etc. and Skin care etc. including line and transit trials.

Should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or product design engineering with an additional knowledge in Plastics Moulds and Designs
Additionally, he should have relevant experience in a Design Agency for 10 years in the area of Product Design specifically in new concept generation. Understanding the moulds and moulding of the same and application in the manufacturing process for Personal care and Food category
Need to have deeper Consumer Insighting to understand on-going and future consumer packaging trends
