Background on the Team

Since 2007 Morgan Stanley has been expanding its own fully-owned premier investment banking and sales & trading platform in India, providing a full range of investment banking, sales & trading, Equities, commodities and derivative products, as well as research services. Building on this existing platform in India, we are looking to invest in establishing a Derivative Operations division that will continue to recognize and match the global need of our clients.

A successful applicant will be part of an exciting opportunity to help onboard and manage the daily processes and work within Derivatives post trade Operations Business, specifically on drafting functions.

Primary Responsibilities

Scope and Purpose of the Role:

The primarily function within the team is the completion of daily tasks, including (but not limited to):
– Trade support for Fixed income derivative products (IRS, CDS, FX)
– Reconciliation of Trader’s Risk products and positions to Firm books and records and investigation and resolution of breaks.
– Managing Teams ranging from 4-8 members including Career management of team members.
– Processing industry compressions related to Rates products — Trioptima , LCH , CME .
– Confirming vanilla and complex rate-fixings with external counterparties via fax and email.
– Working with T/As and the Business Unit to resolve pre and post value date queries and trade amendments through communication with settlements teams Globally
– Working with the financial controllers to resolve pre and post value date breaks between Risk and mainframe.
– Responsibility for delivering a suite of management reports to a global audience and ensuring the breaks within these reports are correctly allocated.
– Perform the exception management on the external platform and ensure breaks are resolved with the help of the Global team.
– The role involves building and maintaining relationships with the regional Middle Office Teams, the Business Unit, IT and other operational support areas to ensure that controls are maintained and breaks are understood and resolved in a timely manner.
– To process requests from Internal Trade Support teams to update MS Internal Mainframe Systems
– Perform activities relating to Rate Setting like notice preparation, dispatch, rate setting/fixing- Trade booking, allocation, Amendment

Skills/Qualifications required (essential)

Required
– Minimum of 9 years Banking Operations or equivalent relevant industry experience with exposure to financial products.
– Good knowledge of Rates , FX and Credit – Derivatives products.
– Previous experience of managing trade support roles with exposure to trade life cycles, process flows and reconciliation with proven track record in managing and developing control functions is a must.
– Proven track record of Process and People Management.
– Previous Management experience of trade support roles with exposure to trade life cycles, process flows and reconciliation with proven track record in managing and developing control functions.
– Project Management or implementation of global strategic improvements.
– understanding of Derivative Instruments is preferable although training will be given and is on-going
– Experience of servicing and working for and with a global network of people.
– Minimum Bachelor or Master’s degree.
