As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will utilise your technical knowledge and professional experience to contribute to the delivery of industrial solutions, currently pumping, grinding and screening solutions to improve our existing product ranges and support our Customers’ needs.  Acting under the guidance of the Engineering Support Supervisor, the role requires technical solutions and detail designing from full assemblies to individual components.  An appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision making, attention to detail, ability to work effectively with other team members, a keen focus on delivery and the ability to turn fast paced, client-driven requirements into profitable solutions are all critical to success in this role,to provide deliverables for the purpose of evaluating design alternatives, cost estimation and establishing manufacturing routes whilst acting as a focal point for mechanical technical matters on specific projects.  You should be keen to take on fresh challenges, develop your technical and interpersonal skills as well as expand your knowledge and experience through a variety of exciting projects.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain a keen global market awareness
• Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop customised, forward-looking customer-centric solutions
• Reduce cost of product and increased production throughput through new design simplification and existing product redesign
• Perform data analysis and present modification & upgrade programs through quick and accurate engineering analyses (FEA, hand calculations etc.)
• Production of Engineering Drawings / Bills of Materials on time to agreed delivery dates
• Produce and check Mechanical engineering documentation deliverables
• Ensure all deliverables are verified and validated in accordance with all relevant Company policies and regulatory requirements
• Participate in internal design review meetings being aware of commercial implications
• Ensure that internal checking and approvals procedures are adhered to
• Ensure correct and thorough maintenance of project documentation
• Ensure Company Engineering Change Procedures are adhered to
• Ensure Customer Care and Quality are always at the forefront
• Contribute to the investigation, resolution and documentation of Engineering Queries in a timely and technically acceptable fashion
• Contribute to induction training
• Be fully aware of personal workload, prioritise and organise to ensure deadlines are achieved
• Ensure a high standard of professionalism is maintained
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department

Qualifications:

• HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent

• Tertiary education in an Engineering discipline

Experience:

• Experience in a similar engineering position

Skills, training or special knowledge

• Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software to produce Engineering designs and drawings to relevant standards
• Understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles including supporting calculations.

An understanding of the requirements of Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Maintenance

• Have an understanding of common place industry materials and their application
• Knowledge of The Machinery (Safety) Directive, PED, ATEX and REACH and their application within Engineering Design.

Carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and department/area work instructions.

Contribute to general improvements in the quality and key activities of the department/area.
