Oracle is looking for a Principal Applications Engineer to be part of Health Sciences Group in Mumbai, who will design, develop, test and deploy enterprise applications in the cloud. Come join us to develop cloud platform to run business for some of the largest Pharmaceutical companies in the world where massive scalability is required for 1000s of concurrent users and many terabytes of data.

Successful candidate will be a technology champion, customer oriented, results driven and passionate about building great products and solutions used by big pharmaceutical companies. He/she should be experienced and hands-on, with the ability to assess different enterprise systems and propose adequate and efficient solutions to prevailing problems so as to improvise/improve them on non-functional and architectural aspects. He/she thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to be involved with real business problems.

Responsibilities:

Hands on experience on building highly scalable enterprise grade cloud application with built in high availability and disaster recovery.

Work with cross-functional team members from Architecture, Product Strategy & Development, QA, Sales & Services, and other Central teams to architect and design multiple products

Excellent in technical design, internally recognized as highly competent in technical areas, will review and participate in product architecture and design

Passionate for continuous learning, experimenting and applying cutting edge technology and software paradigms

Deeper understanding of design principles and methods, technology and standards, actively stay abreast of trends and standards, recommend best practices and share learning

Troubleshoot defects and provide recommended solutions to optimize existing application

Re-architect legacy code into more efficient database-centric queries, designs, approaches

Preferably experience with application development in Health Sciences domain

Qualifications:

BS/MS in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent.

12+ years of development experience on Java platforms & cloud applications

Expert knowledge of Java/J2EE technologies, Javascript, Angular/OJET and frameworks such as JPA, JDBC, Web Services paradigms like REST/SOAP.

Experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or similar role will be an added advantage.

Understanding of data structures, data modeling and software architecture

Deep knowledge of math, probability, statistics and algorithms

Ability to write robust code in Python, Java and R

Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (like Keras or PyTorch) and libraries (like scikit-learn)

Object Oriented Design & Development skills with hands on experience in enterprise cloud application design, micro service development and deployment.

Solid programming experience and very strong in programming disciplines like object oriented principles, design patterns, data structures and unit testing

Expertise in DB and PLSQL coding

Expertise in Fusion Middleware technologies, ADF and Weblogic

Must have experience working with RDBMS, SQL or no-SQL databases

Must have experience working with Tomcat Application server

Experience on container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes

Experience on technologies like Apache Zookeper, Spark or Kafka will be added advantage

Good to have experience using a Profiling tool such as JProfiler

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment

Excellent time management and communication skills and a great team player

As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.
