Detailed Description and Job Requirements:
· BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
· Advanced Scripting/coding skills (Shell, Perl and Python) . Knowing C/C++ and Java is nice to have
· System Engineer with extensive experience in Oracle Exadata, Oracle RDBMS Oracle GI (Clusterware and ASM) and RAC
· Experience in Database High availability (DG, GG) and it’s best practices
· Experience in Performance tuning of the above areas
· Very Good understanding of large scale distributed systems
· Operational experience in Building and managing Linux based systems with good understanding how the Linux kernel works (IO, Network,…etc) and ability to read and understand source code
· Experience in Building and managing Virtualized systems (KVM, OVM, Containers/Docker) and ability to read and understand source code
· Very strong analytical skills to identify problems root cause
· Expertise in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
· Systematic problem solving approach, combined with a strong sense of ownership and drive.
Responsibilities
· Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex Infrastructure and DevOps challenges
· Create and deliver best practices recommendations, sample code, technical documents
· Contribute to making our infrastructure simple, reliable, and easy to operate
· Participate in the design and architecture of large scale Distributed DBaaS Service features
· Design, write and deliver software to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Oracle DBaaS service.
· Participate in research and prototyping (proof of concept) different aspect of Oracle DBaaS service
· Define and develop monitoring infrastructure criterias (SLIs, SLOs) for Oracle DBaaS service
· Solve complex and difficult problems and build automation to prevent problem recurrence
· Participate in DBaaS service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis and system tuning.
· Conduct periodic on call duties
Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
Solve complex problems related to infrastructure cloud services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence. Design, write, and deploy software to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of Oracle products and services. Design and develop designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems. Facilitate service capacity planning and demand forecasting, software performance analysis, and system tuning.
Work with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.

Experience running large scale customer facing web services. Identifies solutions to understanding of load balancing technologies and experience with development in programming languages, databases and big data stores, and container technologies. Work involves defining and documenting technical architecture of complex and highly scalable products. A minimum of 5+ years experience of running large scale customer facing web services.
