Job description

To be successful as a Jr. PHP Developer, you should be innovative and demonstrate a passion for technology. You must be a deadline-driven self-starter with excellent customer coordination skills.

Expectations:

Structured and formal communication among team members for coordination of work. Use daily team meetings effectively and set the expectations on what they need to be prepared to share in the daily call. Tasks & plans should be aligned toward achieving weekly/monthly goals.

Meeting deadlines of website completion – avoid flimsy excuses and also do not tolerate excuses

Be organized when planning for leaves either for self or for team members. Advance notice, keeping team members informed, and also being available by keeping official numbers working during the absence to be reachable in the event of emergencies are the expectations

Keep self-updated on the latest changes in the industry and motivate team members to have a mindset of continuous learning. Participate and promote Lunch & Learn ‘sessions to drive a culture of “Learn by Teaching”

Set high-performance goals for projects and also try to push the limit in terms of the results. Have a mindset of learning from failures and avoid repetition of mistakes.

Under-promise and over-deliver to clients on project deliverables

Participate in setting standardized systems and processes for repeatable tasks to ensure speedy completion of tasks with minimum errors and also train lesser experienced staff to do the tasks with minimum intervention and training

Document the learnings from functionality used during website creation and record the work done to ensure the time spent in learning can be saved while creating a website with similar functionality next time.

Overall Responsibility:

• Majority of the tasks are working on additional features, and fixing bugs and issues on existing Wordpress websites. (PHP/Wordpress Code functional related, Mail Functional related, API Issues)
• Wordpress Dynamic Website Development (Handling Theme Customizations, Plugin Customizations, Menus, Widgets, Sidebar, Custom Posts, Template creations as per Project Requirements)
• “E-commerce Website Development using Wordpress Woocommerce Functionals. (Handling Setting up woocommerce store, Category, Product listings, Details, Cart, Checkout Forms, Request A Quote as per client/project requirements.)
• Coordinating with the front-end team for Desktop and Mobile Responsiveness.”
• Headless website development (Existing Headless website Updates, Fixing Backend Coding Issues, Integrating with RESTFUL API, Deployment to the Server, Taking Backup)
• Setting up the Project On Staging Environment, Coordinating with Front End Team, Integrating with Backend Functionals, Testing all functionalities, Create the live environment, Deploy to the live environment.
• Handling wordpress core, theme, plugin upgrades.
• Creating Website Scope, Estimate, Architecture, Timeline for the Dynamic Wordpress, E- Commerce and Headless website development.
• Provide Support for Digital Marketing Team/Front End Developers as required (robots.txt,.htaccess file updates, setting up git/bitbucket tool, redirection issues, schema issues, seo plugin issues, event triggers, gsheet, capturing form values to database.)
• Implementing Payment Gateways as per project requirements like (Eg: PayuMoney, Paypal, Paytm, RazorPay) Capturing values to database, email notifications for pending/Failed and success payments
• Monitoring the client website uptime on a Daily/ Weekly/Monthly using third-party monitoring tools. During a website down-time, follow the operating procedures to check the code/functional related issues, then share the email to client/server team accordingly.
• Taking up Weekly/Daily /Monthly Backup Website Files along with the MYSQL Database.
• Resolving the wordpress website hack/malware issues.
• Take action on tasks to implement or ask clarifying questions.
• Keep data and login information confidential and secure using our encryption best practices.
• Clearly and constructively communicate with the Project Manager if you get stuck or need help with something.
• Collaborate directly with the Development Team to update and drive development on our web applications.
• Attending daily sync-ups at 10AM IST (Mon-Sat)
• Attending a Client meeting to understand the project requirement and functional specifications.
• Conducting Wordpress training with the client
• Learn New things and create documents for future use.
• Follow checklists after completing the tasks.(Website Deployment on Live Server, Wordpress Core,Plugin Updations, etc).
• Attending Weekly Review meeting to discuss weekly performance and next week plan
• Be available to respond to emergency client emails even during Holidays/Weekends and provide support for urgent technical issues impacting website performance.
• Collaborate with front-end web developers to improve usability
• Continued education and research into Backend development trends
• Clearly and constructively communicate with the Project Manager / Tech Lead – Web Development if you get stuck or need help with something.
• Keep Tech Lead – Web Development in CC: to any of the client coordination mails

Responsibility towards your Client Projects

• SMART Goal settings for every project and get approval from the manager
• Identify the business objectives and requirements from the client or the team
• Creating timeframes and work schedules to meet deadlines, get an approval from the team members/clients
• Communicate effectively with clients and teams to clarify all relevant doubts and further requirement, followed by a formal email. Any further changes or rework from any team member or any client should have a formal email communication even after having informal discussion through phone/whatsapp or any other media.
• You must understand the project scope of work, it is always important to get your questions and doubts clarified before the start of the project.
• You will be available for any changes in establishing strong professional relationships with clients and other professionals.
• Create / Follow reporting to team, management & clients on status of work, projects including highlighting deficiencies in ongoing work or anything that will prevent project from meetings its intended goals and objectives.
• Display a proactive and take-charge attitude to ensure projects goals and client expectations are being met.

Mandatory Skill Sets

• Strong understanding of technologies, such asPHP, MYSQL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, PHP
• Intermediate Knowledge About Core PHP, WordPress

Good To Have

• Experience in common third-party APIs
• Basic PHP Curl Knowledge
• Hands-on experience in Apache, Xampp, Wamp Servers
• Basic CMS Knowledge if any (Joomla/WordPress/Drupal)
• Basic OOPS Concepts in PHP.
• Hands-on experience in any PHP Framework (Laravel, Codeigniter, Cake PHP, Symphony, Yii)
• Basic Knowledge in Git.
• Basic Knowledge in Node.js

• Full Understanding of the WordPress Codex and E-Commerce Plugins and Integrations
• Experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug.
• Ability to work in an Agile environment.
