Associate Engineer (Risk Engineer)

Purpose and Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Senior Team Lead Project Services, the Risk Management Engineer is to contribute to the delivery and maintenance of standard, consistent and realistic Risk Management Plan, System and Register for Projects in the region.

Purpose:

As part of the Project Services team, the Project Risk Management Engineer ensures that project teams take into account credible “what-if” scenarios when implementing their project plans.

This is done through the use of the risk management process as a framework to qualitatively identify, evaluate, plan responses to and monitor the effectiveness of these responses for all potential opportunities or threats to the project goals

Principal Accountabilities:

Assist in Developing Project Specific Risk Management Plans & Initial Risk Registers RMPs should be made specific to the Project’s Objectives and Value Drivers in terms of Calibration of RAM scale, Risk Breakdown Structures and Reporting Requirements and aligned to Project Guides. Initial Risk Registers should leverage on past Lessons Learned/ similar project info where available and cover the TECOP spectrum.

Maintain General Quality & Consistency of Risk Register Content Ensure risk descriptions are clear Ensure risk data is complete (i.e owner assigned, risk rated, review date set, actions developed etc) and kept current Assist in applying risk management process in alignment with the Project Risk Management Plan and relevant Shell Group Guidelines

Coordinate & Administer Risk Register – Establish/implement Monthly risk review interfaces with project team members. Ensure existing risks/actions are updated on timely basis (No overdue items). Ensure content is kept current by identifying and capturing new risk items and challenge risk status of existing item by planning for facilitated risk discussions/risk workshops at key project milestones Assist in defining and managing the interfaces with key (EPCm) contractors on risk management (E.g. Integrating Contractor Risk info to the Shell Owner Risk Registers)

Risk Communication – Produce Risk Reports by supporting project teams in extracting/summarizing information from the risk register for monthly progress reports and/or Business One 1-Pagers Ensure Risk Profile is kept current by implementing and maintaining a “Top Risk” list that is reviewed with the Project Leadership monthly and validated with the Business Opportunity Manager quarterly Track and monitor the project Risk KPI-s

Assist in monitoring and supporting the escalation of the “interface/common” risks from projects level to a portfolio level – Assist and support the Programme Risk Manager (if appointed) or Regional PS Risk Team Lead in identifying “common/interface” risks present in individual projects that may need to be consolidated / re-framed at a “portfolio” level

Assist in Performing Probabilistic Cost & Schedule Risk Analyses at pre-defined points within the project life-cycle (E.g. Prior To Decision Gates)

• Assist in co-developing simplified project cost and schedule models with project cost estimators/cost engineers/planners, map the (TECOP) parameters Risk Register entries, and quantify these impacts into duration/ cost ranges.

• Assist in Assessing and establishing appropriate probability distributions for each element.

• Assist in analysing and iterating the model output.

• Assist in interpreting and explaining Cost & Schedule Risk Analysis output to Project Leadership and Review teams

Dimensions :

• Comfortable to work virtually with remote teams in different time zones and flexible for occasional business travel

Skills & Requirements:

REQUIRED

• Engineering Degree and/or Certification or equivalent

• 2-8 years industry experience in projects environment preferably in the Oil & Gas sector

• Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills

• Ability to work in a dynamic environment among multiple (sub) projects (each potentially with different (sub) teams and different drivers)

PREFERRED

• Proficiency in Project Services/ Project Engineering

• Excellent stakeholder management skills & ability to interface with various levels of project and organizational stakeholders

• Flexibility and speed to meet fast-moving business requirements with credible and high-quality independent delivery is a critical job requirement.

• Exposure to Risk Management tools like Primavera Risk Analysis, Crystal Ball, @Risk etc., will be an added advantage
