Job Description

• Working as a SME with hands-on DBA experience. Working with other technical and functional teams to consolidate and centralize database instances.

• Strong knowledge/experience in Exadata/ODA, Oracle 12c/19c, and Data Guard is must.

• Utilization of capacity and performance analysis tools to identify underutilized instances. Analyze existing installations and prepare plan.

• Solving database and SQL performance issues using Oracle native tools including SQL Rewrite.

• Evaluate utilization of ODA and standalone system workloads to determine the strategy for use and migration moving forward. Consolidation of existing DB instances and further ODAs is expected as and when existing workload moves to ODA from standalone hardware.

• Provide leadership in problem determination/analysis, RCA utilizing diagnostic and system management tools (such as system/alert dumps and system/component traces, monitoring tools to name few).

• Maintain security hardened baseline configurations and deploy security (patches), software maintenance (patches), and new software releases and supporting products infrastructure as directed by the system owner, security policy.

• Setting up and enabling auditing to track and alert for changes directly in database instead of applications. Setting up encryption of data at REST and in flight.

• Lead the Engineering, integration, implementation, and operations strategy to include Database server consolidation, storage consolidation, and automation. Automation includes seamless Database provisioning, and non-disruptive workflow/application/data migrations.

• Migration of databases from older versions such as 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g and 12c to 19c. Working as SME in planning and performing database migrations from standalone hardware to ODA/ Exadata.

• Setting up multiple DG copies using different modes analyzing network throughput, other resource limitations and licensing.

• Maintain up-to-date documentation of all procedures, infrastructure diagrams, system configuration and baseline standards, implementation plans, system back out plans, system recovery plans, maintenance plans, system upgrades, and all system changes.

• Provide leadership in process, management and resolution of all events, warning, alert, as well as alarm messages. Design and implement automated responses to system issues (e.g., automatic failover, resource allocation adjustments).

• Setting up backup/ restore environment using third party tools such as net backup.

• Availability to support production issues off hours. Creating writeups with detailed RCA and action item.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master’s preferred

• 8+ years of core Oracle database administration experience with Computer Science or equivalent bachelor’s degree.

• 5+ years’ experience with Oracle Data Guard for multi-site failover including Active DG and Daisy-Chain implementations.

• 3+ years’ hands-on experience on Exadata/ ODA systems.

• Expertise in scripting language such as python and/or perl

• Adhere to on-call support (24/7) and core business hour coverage.
