Job Description

As a Manager – Global Strategic Sourcing, you will be at the forefront of sourcing new and emerging technologies. The role also demands leadership in New Product Introduction (NPI) and Development (NPD) sourcing, enabling Tata Communications to launch differentiated products on time. You will engage globally with suppliers, collaborate cross-functionally, and take end-to-end ownership of sourcing from early supplier engagement to contract finalization—ensuring speed, compliance, and value. Participate in various stages of supply chain processes, in area of procurement/vendor management/logistics/ inventory/quality management to ensure service availability to the customers and at the same time driving cost efficiencies, quality management and timely delivery of orders. This is an operational role which is responsible for delivering results.

Responsibilities

Review procurement volumes by vendor and product class/type, thereby, identify areas for Rate Contracts/Frame Contracts, and finalize the same.

• Act as a sourcing lead in cross-functional NPI/NPD programs, collaborating closely with engineering, product management, and supply chain teams to ensure supplier readiness for new product launches.
• Own the sourcing lifecycle of new technologies or products from concept through mass production, ensuring supplier onboarding, cost targets, lead times, and quality metrics are achieved..

Lead end-to-end sourcing processes including RFx creation, bid evaluations, supplier selection, negotiations, and award recommendation, ensuring compliance with corporate procurement policies and ethical standards.

• Should be conversant with global EXIM matters/ Incoterms
• Must have exposure to international purchasing or global trading

Engage with internal user teams for understanding requirements of new projects / Operations requirements & deals.

Collaborate with key persons including demand & delivery manager to ensure clarity of specifications & SLAs.

Managing sourcing & procurement

Work with vendors /Planning team – to expedite deliveries and support delivery related challenges.

Review logistics to make sure they run smoothly.

Analyze data from delivery processes to find bottlenecks and other issues.

Manage procurement negotiations, order processing and maintaining the supply of required services.

Ensure vendor compliance to Supply Management Policy and Procedures

Minimum Qualification & Experience

Education: Telecommunications/ Electronics/ Electrical/ Computers engineering or equivalent graduate

and preferably, business graduate (non-mandatory).

Experience

• 5 – 11 years of experience in procurement function
• 3 to 4 years of experience in procurement of telecom equipment and services domain

Desired Skill sets

Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers, shippers, and customers.

Expertise in Service procurement before on-boarding vendor.

Expertise in contracting management & ensuring risk coverage in contract.
