We are looking to hire a Global Oral Care Flavours Specialist in our Oral Care team based in Mumbai:
The Oral Care category, through its Billion Smiles Mission, strives to bring healthy teeth and beautiful smiles to 1 billion consumers. The business ambition is to Double Up TO and PBO by 2020. Unilever Oral Care is the market leader or the second biggest player in 8 out of the ten key markets it operates. The category represents a huge growth opportunity for Unilever through investing its core brands with superior holistic product design.
Global Flavour Capability is at the interface between cross-functional project teams, procurement and the Flavour Houses to deliver excellence in all flavour related aspects of the Oral Care products. The desired team should hold both olfactive/hedonic experts and technical/analytical experts.
This job focuses on working within the R&D Design team as a flavour specialist operating in a creative capacity with the support of the Category Brand Flavour Manager (CBMF) in delivering the flavour development elements of Close-Up projects. The job requires close collaboration with internal and external partners, good understanding of consumer and sensory insights and capability to turn these insights into technical actions.
Main Accountabilities
Drive quality standards of flavored products to deliver winning flavors, ensuring fit to Brand. Utilise expert personal judgement to generate and interpret results in accordance to agreed protocols.
Utilizing flavor brand strategy and market knowledge, work alongside the CBMF to scope out the flavor deliverables by translating ideas for new concepts into clear flavor direction. This includes setting technical benchmarks and working strategically with procurement to establish cost targets.
Lead the total Flavor House briefing process gaining agreement from all stakeholders and project partners (technical and marketing, global and regional).
Work collaboratively with Flavor House partners to translate the flavor direction for the product into desirable flavors often in autonomy. Leads the evaluation and selection process translating brand critique into expert flavor vocabulary and feeding back to Flavor Houses in order to fully optimize routes.
Responsible for delivery, against network timings, of the flavor for global scope projects, dovetailing with other elements of the product mix
Recommend flavor themes from the category portfolio for projects or regional roll-out where appropriate.
Work with regional marketing and R&D teams to implement recommended flavors into local markets
Continuously builds and utilizes in-market flavor understanding, including competitors, cross-category drivers and Flavor trends in order to deliver market-winning flavors and build flavor capability.
Coordinate under CBMF guidance all flavor adaptations and implementations required by UL Policy and regulatory standards to ensure compliance and consumer safety.
Support CBMF to build Unilever and category flavor capability, strategy and expertise.
Manage interface between Flavors and Consumer Research by supporting CTI to ensure right methodologies are in place for flavors assessment and insights are relevant.
Desirable understanding of analytical techniques to describe flavor composition.
Portfolio rationalization mindset to improve flavors value for money.
