Core Requirements and Responsibilities: The Manager, Product Management will work with customers and cross-functional teams within Vertafore to define priorities and roadmaps, develop business requirements, lead go-to-market plans, and execute on product performance targets. You will build features from existing ideas and also develop new ideas, based on industry experience and research, as well as your contact with customers and prospects. Successful candidates will possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You should enjoy spending time in the market to understand customer issues and their problems and find innovative solutions for the broader market. You will serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering and work closely with the Product Management, Product Development, Experience Design teams and key customers to elaborate requirements, document proposed software solutions Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:

• Serve as a strategic product thinker while driving and implementing the product processes and roadmap

• Bring to market revenue generating, customer-driven software products while managing the entire product lifecycle from strategy to execution.

• Product positioning – articulate the value proposition, key business benefits, identify target audience and launch prospects (MVP, Early Adopter, General Availability). Recommend pricing strategy, understand competitive positioning for our product offering.

• Product Evangelism – Contributing to necessary and relevant communication forums and supporting product leaders in various speaking engagements

• Takes the core responsibility of mentoring and coaching the other PO team members

• Implement PO process and best practices to improve the overall operational efficiency

• Helps Director, Product Management in sales requests, Analysis and various other reporting requests

• Takes care of staffing needs for the team

• Should be managing the team for delivery of product management tasks and manage goal setting, performance appraisal of the team.

• Helps with knowledge base creation and L&D efforts for training

• Manage the cross-functional implementation of the go-to-market plan in partnership with other groups such as sales, marketing and engineering.

• Assist with responding to requests for proposal/quote issued by prospects

• Develop the necessary materials to support the effective marketing of our products

• Contributing to necessary and relevant communication forums and supporting product leaders in various speaking engagements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Our Manager, Product Management are part of a highly effective, fast-paced team and serve as the interface between our customers and the development team throughout the planning and software development process. They can fully understand and analyze both internal and external customer needs, and then articulate those needs to our experience design and product development teams
Qualifications:

• We need Manager, Product Management who:

o Have Exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate complex concepts to all levels of an organization and customers. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and other product and procedure documentation clearly and effectively. Also, copywriting skills, great sense for aesthetics and design and detailed oriented, setting high threshold for quality o Have Advanced presentation skills (familiarity with desktop publishing, Photoshop, multimedia production tools is a plus) o Strong problem solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Able to define problems, collect data, analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Can exercise judgment within generally defined practices and select methods to obtain solutions. Can understand business drivers, future customer needs and competitive challenges o Have ability to develop and execute a successful product roadmap with a proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle o Have demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence decisions in a matrix environment, including senior level leaders. o Have strong problem-solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done o Have successful history of delivering customer-driven products designed to create a great customer experience o Work collaboratively with others to accomplish goals and build solid working relationship across the organization o 8+ years’ experience, preferably with Product Management role for web-based software
