JOB DESCRIPTION

• Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the availability of the VMware Cloud on the AWS SaaS platform
  • Participate in team on-call rotation to represent the customer by providing service insight, response, and incident management
  • work with the development teams on operating highly reliable, available, and distributed services
  • Development of common tools and frameworks to improve SRE best practices
  • Head post-mortems to analyze and prevent repeat failures
  • Automate RunBooks and any repetitive tasks
  • Participate in code reviews with a focus on best user experience, scalability, and future expansion.
  • Ensure infrastructure security compliance

• Required Skills:
  • A degree in Computer Science or related branches ( based on a BS or MS in CS or related field)
  • 8+ Yrs of experience in the fields of SRE, DevOps, or production engineering
  • Domain level understanding of Public/Private Cloud Infrastructure & Networking
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, and scaling online services
  • Skillful in administering Linux systems in a production environment
  • Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive
  • Proficient in a common scripting language: Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.
  • Skilled with platforms like Kubernetes, containers, and public clouds service
  • Team Player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to mentor junior team members to increase team efficiency and throughput

• Preferred Skills:
  • Have developed software using one or more object-oriented programming languages, like Java, Python, Golang
  • Knowledgeable of security in the cloud: intrusion, penetration, and vulnerability scanning
  • Identify, gather, analyze and automate responses to key performance metrics, logs, and alerts.
  • Good working knowledge of build automation and continuous integration/delivery ecosystem: Git, Gerrit, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Docker, Nexus
  • Have used tools such as Atlassian’s JIRA and PagerDuty
  • Hands-on working experience with AWS toolsets is a plus AWS certification is a Big Plus
  • Background with infrastructure configuration and automation processes and tools: Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Fabric, Helm, etc. is a plus.
  • Knowledge of VMware’s SDDC stack or any related VMware certification is a big plus
