POSITION SUMMARY:

The Government Relations Head for India will be responsible for effective internal and external interactions to position Cepheid as a credible stakeholder in India and shape policy and legislation of strategic importance to the company’s Diagnostics businesses.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide support to Cepheid South Asia GM and business leaders on interactions with regulators government healthcare officials, Strategic developers and policy makers and senior officials in public or private health systems by leading and driving new concepts with South Asia leader, and other related functions (regulatory, legal, Marketing, communications etc.), to integrate Government Affairs into strategic marketing plans.
• Monitor, analyze and advise on the potential impact of key political, economic and policy trends / developments; and lead the development of policy solutions in the country and share recommendations to address as required and stay abreast of policy and legislative developments and help update and educate organization on such developments.
• Identify and develop appropriate long-term policy strategies to support company goals to position it as a strategic partner in the healthcare sector in India and adjoining markets and establish a credible profile for Cepheid with relevant policy makers and influencers (politicians, government officials, health system leaders and officials, NGOs, academics, etc.).
• Work across all levels of the different regional and global teams for Cepheid to ensure consistent positions and approaches on policy issues pertinent to the Opco’s, in consideration of a structured Government Affairs approach (Monitoring, Information & Analysis, Strategic consideration, Policy, influencing) and also represent Cepheid at trade events and other key industry associations in India and create a strategy to engage and manage external consultants as needed

EXPECTED TRAVEL AND TIME MANAGEMENT

50% of time is dedicated to visit the governmental, semi-governmental and private accounts within India

TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete all assigned and required training satisfactorily and on time

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience (in years):

• B. Sc. Degree in Medical / Healthcare fields
• 15+ years of professional experience in healthcare public policy, (governmental bodies, trade organizations public health consulting, public affairs

Knowledge and skills:

• Superior Government affairs management capabilities with proven track record in strategic engagements
• Advanced level verbal and written communication skills in Hindi and English and ability to articulate complex concepts int clear and compelling messaging
• Ability to understand and navigate complex regulatory and policy issues and ability to connect them with company’s strategic business goals
• Strong interpersonal skills with balanced self-awareness, acting with humility and ability to connect at all levels internally and externally
• Results oriented and ability adapt and deliver under pressure.
