Job Summary

Responsible for planning and designing new software and web applications. Edits new and existing applications. Implements, testing and debugging defined software components. Documents all development activity. Works with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

• Continuous development, improvement, maintenance and administration of our Python based automation test framework, scripts and tools.

• Adhere to industry standard software development practices.

• Work as part of an effective self-organising and disciplined team to achieve repeatable success.

• Develop and assist in the technical design of the assigned projects.

• Participate in planning and estimation, contributing to overall delivery.

• Drive forward the production of reusable code and modules where appropriate with a view to test efficiently and effectively.

• Knowledge Sharing and Support to wider team/community.

• Actively document and share knowledge of our systems and tools.

• Create and run automated test packs.

• Gain experience of our extensive broadcast platforms

• Support and suggest the use of new technologies and practices into the team.

Employees at all levels are expected to:

• A deep understanding of Software Testing and the whole Software Development Lifecycle.

• Significant development experience with Python and C#.

• Experience of writing data driven automation tests using pytest.

• Strong SQL scripting skills and XML/JSON data interrogation skills.

• Java skills are desirable.

• Front end web app development experience using React, .net Blazor or similar is desirable.

• Experience of microservices

• Experience working in Linux/Unix as well as Windows environments

• Experience within a software development team as a Developer, SDET or Test Automator.

• Hands on experience using Continuous Integration tools (Hudson, Jenkins etc.), version control solutions (GIT, SVN etc.), databases (MongoDB) and API tools (Postman).

• Experience using defect management tools such as Jira or HP Quality Centre.

• Fast problem-solving capabilities

• Strong communication and documenting skills with the ability to work proactively with others

• Ability to effectively communicate progress, challenges, and articulate benefits in on- going automation.
