Expedia Software Development Engineer IIThe Flights team at Expedia is the traffic powerhouse for the Expedia Group brands! Our Flights Shopping Platform is one of the largest in the world serving over 150 million queries a day and powering some of the strongest in the industry like Orbitz, Expedia, Travelocity, Wotif, Hotwire and ebookers. Our technology operations are global.We are one of the few companies in the world that has its own proprietary flight search engine (called Best Fare Search) which is used by millions of users daily. Our team is moving one of the biggest flight platforms to AWS. Expedia Group handles several 100 thousand booking transactions every day and partner with all major GDS partners. Our team collects Terabytes of Flights Data and look to use Machine Learning to show the right content to our customers.As a Software Engineer II, you will translate requirements into code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging, ensuring alignment to defined engineering processes. Propose improvements in design and processes.What you will do:

• Our teams have flexibility to make the technology choices that best provide value to our beloved travelers and partners.
• Proactively contact with peers across environment and collaborate to resolve problems.
• Take advantage of opportunities to build new technical expertise in a specific engineering area.
• Understand the importance of system and technology integration and the basic features and facilities involved in the integration process.
• Will apply software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions.
• Will think broadly and understand how, why and when policies/processes are standardized and when they differ across the organization.
• Report clearly on current work status and able to ask tough questions when empowered.

Who you are:

• Strength in a language, moderate familiarity in other applicable languages.
• Familiarity in a couple data stores or API access patterns and integration.
• Familiarity with associated technologies within the specialization as part of the wider ecosystem.
• Able to understand moderately sophisticated systems.
• Ability to test your own code.
• Ability to debug applications.
• Bachelors or Master s degree in a Technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
