APJ Contra Analyst As an APJ Contra Analyst in Bangalore, India, you have a great platform to explore a dynamic role with great business flavor, foundation to understand the operational dynamics of HP’s pricing, promotional and partner incentive schemes, duly connecting the dots to key business drivers. The role provides High visibility experience, given the typical quarterly interactions with the Market Finance Directors across Asia markets. What an APJ Contra Analyst does at HP:

• Own the accrual positions and baselines for the contra revenue Balance Sheet reserves, covering either a cluster or a large country’s portion of the overall $500M baseline (approximately) across APJ markets.
• Interact very closely with Market/CO Finance to understand the business outlook and expectations and comingle them with the contra models at play to establish key decisions around contra revenue.
• Be aware of changes in program structure and in P&L behavior to connect the dots to how the reserve should react, and drive proposals based on changing business conditions month-in-month-out.
• Proactively drive the need to perform corrections and rate refreshes when there is a case to do so, in a highly collaborative environment with Market BU Finance.
• A highly data driven role where the analyst needs to be assertive and drive a position forward, working with data and performing additional due diligence on the baseline assumptions coming in from Category and Market finance teams, where needed.
• Facilitate alignments on contra revenue workings as part of Country Statutory Audits/ year ends with Market Controllers and EY, as well as from a SOX testing perspective by Internal Audit.
• Drive a very structured engagement with Market Finance managers and analysts to ensure ease of implementing key contra recommendations.
• Perform actions on the contra tools in place to make sure the conversations and positions, find their way into the ledgers based on JVs posted.
• Follow through on the above to execute post close reporting and analysis activities, including Balance Sheet Review preparation cycles, which entail interactions with Market Finance and with Business category teams alike.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

• First level university degree
• Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience as a financial analyst/accountant/finance manager
• Typically experienced in more than one finance function.
• Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis.
• Working experience either with RPA or with statistical modelling will be a bonus.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Excellent business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Negotiation skills backed by a data driven mindset.
• Strong business acumen.
• Good project management skills.
