Job Description
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.
As a member of the technical writing division, you will write, review and produce single books or individual chapters, appendices, etc. of product user documentation and/or courseware. Obtain data and information from the appropriate source e.g. technical staff and exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Duties and tasks are standard with some variation; displays understanding of roles, processes and procedures. Performs moderately complex problem solving with assistance and guidance in understanding and applying company policies and processes. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 1 year of software engineering or related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary Skills:
Possess a BE/BTech/MCA/Masters or equivalent degree.
3-6 years of core Technical Writing experience.
Excellent command of U.S. English (understanding, speaking, and writing).
Excellent research, analysis, and writing skills.
Ability to write clearly and concisely using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Proven ability to write conceptual, task-oriented, and reference documentation with equal facility.
Experience interpreting technical specifications, user stories, configuration files, code, and other technical documents as source material.
Exposure to agile methodologies, scrums.
Prior experience preferably with IT/product/banking domain experience.
Structured documentation knowledge is a must.
Technical and Tools Knowledge:
Proven ability to learn new products and technologies and to grasp technical material.
Experience with authoring, standard office, and documentation tools like DITA, Oxygen XML Authoring v17 or later, Microsoft Office 2013 or later (required); Adobe FrameMaker 2017 or later, Adobe Technical Communication 2019 suite, Visio and RoboHelp (optional).
Knowledge of structured documentation, CMS, as well as documentation preparation delivery mechanisms (e.g., online Help, Web help, PDFs, HTML, etc.,)
Exposure to software development tools, including source control tools, and processes – including design, development, and quality assurance is a plus.
Possess documentation bug fixes hands-on experience.
Knowledge about banking and financial services applications / industry is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Possess good release, content planning, and organizing skills.
Ability to work independently and possess good judgment, positive attitude, and an innovative spirit.
Ability to work with cross-functional global teams, including developers, peers, architects, and editors in remote locations and in various methods (phone, email, web conferencing).
Ability to work on multiple deliverables for multiple products simultaneously and under time constraints.
Ability to work in a collaborative group setting.
