Job Description – Public Relations Officer

Location: Tata Electronics, Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu

Department: Industrial Relations

Purpose of the Role:

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) will serve as the external face of the Krishnagiri unit for community-facing stakeholders, local media, public events, and civil society groups. The PRO will be responsible for shaping public perception, enhancing trust with local communities, and ensuring timely and transparent communication of Tata Electronics’ social, industrial, and developmental initiatives.

Though positioned within the Industrial Relations function, the PRO will work in close collaboration with the CSR, Government Affairs, and Corporate Communications teams, supporting an integrated approach to external engagement while remaining distinct from the policy and compliance functions of Government Affairs.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables (KRAs):

• Develop and maintain relationships with panchayat leaders, civil society organizations, local opinion-makers and the community
• Proactively track public sentiment, local rumors, or dissatisfaction that could impact business continuity
• Co-design and promote the communication strategy for local CSR and employee/community events
• In the event of labor unrest, protests, or incidents, align messages with IR and legal teams for external release
• Lead messaging campaigns around social issues, employability, environment, and other company-aligned themes
• Facilitate guided visits, plant profiles, and coverage to shape Krishnagiri’s industrial image
• Maintain database of key local influencers, track their movements, sentiments, and involvement
• Manage relationships with local and regional journalists; ensure accurate and positive coverage of
• Joint planning of events and social campaigns

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Graduate or Postgraduate in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or Public Policy. MBA or MSW preferred.
• Experience: 10–15 years in external communications, stakeholder engagement, or PR in industrial/manufacturing setups, preferably with labor/community interfaces.
• Languages: Proficiency in Tamil (essential), and English. Telugu/Kannada is a plus.
