Support HPC engineers to support the operations and service desk and take part in project

work as required.

Broad list of skills and experience we are looking to cover is below

Duties

As part of the HPC team

Support day to day running of the Scientific Computing HPC Platform by monitoring

computing resources, performance, managing configurations and performing firmware

and software updates.

Service Level 1 Support for R&D community.

Develop and extend the functionality, usability, and monitoring of the HPC platform

and other SCP services.

Write documentation, runbooks, playbooks and procedures for the SCP Platform.

Investigate, debug, and address researcher enquiries and requests efficiently via the

Jira service desk system.

Provide relevant feedback in an timely manner to the rest of the team, in order to

translate end-users requirements and general platform improvements to products

teams.

Skills

Experience with git, GitHub and GitHub workflows.

Experience supporting users and working on service desk support as a SL1 SL2

engineer

Experience with scripting languages such as BASH or Python

Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible

Experience with IaaC management tools, OpenStack Heat, Terraform, CloudFormation.

Experience with Linux and operating Linux environments at scale

Good written and spoken English Communication Skills
