JOB PURPOSE

The Head of Information Technology will serve as the digital transformation leader at ASSOCHAM, responsible for building a secure, scalable, and future-ready technology ecosystem that enables the Chamber’s national operations, digital member services, and institutional governance. This role combines strategic vision with executional depth in enterprise IT systems, ERP deployment, automation, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity. The incumbent will partner with cross-functional teams, council heads, and external vendors to architect and execute a comprehensive digital roadmap in alignment with ASSOCHAM’s mission and growth priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Strategy & National Enablement

• Lead the design and execution of ASSOCHAM’s digital roadmap to support national, sectoral, and state-level operations.
• Ensure robust digital infrastructure to enable scalable, secure, and seamless services for over 70 Councils and 450,000+ member entities.
• Promote technology adoption for research, advocacy, outreach, and member engagement platforms.
• Oversee cybersecurity posture, compliance frameworks, and business continuity planning across the Chamber’s digital footprint.

IT Strategy & Leadership

• Define and implement the overall IT strategy in alignment with ASSOCHAM’s institutional goals and operational needs.
• Lead and mentor a cross-functional internal IT team, while managing key external technology partners and vendors.
• Enable integration and automation across departments to improve efficiency, transparency, and digital maturity.

ERP & Enterprise Application Development

• Drive the design, development, and organization-wide rollout of an integrated ERP platform across HR, Finance, Membership, Events, and vertical councils.
• Oversee development and maintenance of custom digital applications to automate internal workflows and improve member-facing interfaces.
• Ensure systems are modular, API-enabled, and prepared for future upgrades in analytics, dashboards, and AI tools.

Digital Innovation & Member Experience

• Introduce smart data dashboards and AI-ready tools to enhance decision-making and internal visibility.
• Support the creation of digital portals for members, stakeholders, and institutional collaborations to improve access, onboarding, and engagement.
• Build internal digital culture by empowering teams with collaboration tools, dashboards, and training.

Vendor, Budget & Governance Oversight

• Lead IT procurement strategy, contract negotiations, and vendor lifecycle management with a focus on cost-effectiveness and service quality.
• Manage annual IT budgets, capital investments, and technology-related risk reporting.
• Ensure proper tracking of software licenses and compliance with all relevant licensing agreements and regulatory standards.
• Ensure compliance with internal IT policies, audit protocols, and government-mandated cybersecurity standards.

Infrastructure & Technical Operations

• Oversee day-to-day IT infrastructure including cloud environments (Microsoft Azure, AWS), internal networks, endpoints, and hybrid conferencing solutions.
• Oversee the IT helpdesk and internal support function to ensure timely resolution of user incidents, hardware issues, and software problems across departments.
• Ensure 24×7 operational uptime, secure remote access, and technical support for staff and event teams.
• Coordinate with vendors or internal teams to manage hosting, backend performance, and data integration for the Chamber’s website and digital properties.
• Manage identity and access controls through systems like Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, and Group Policy, ensuring secure authentication and system integrity.
• Maintain asset inventory, data backup systems, and endpoint security across all devices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related fields from a recognized university.
• 18–20 years of progressive experience in IT leadership, with at least 5 years in a national-level or multi-location organization leading digital transformation initiatives.
• Proven experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or open platforms), enterprise applications, cloud adoption, and automation frameworks.
• Familiarity with the operations of chambers of commerce, trade associations, or large member-based institutions will be an advantage.
• Professional certifications in cloud platforms, ERP administration, or cybersecurity (e.g. Azure Admin, SAP, CISSP) will be an added advantage.
• Candidates with prior experience in both strategic planning and hands-on infrastructure delivery will be preferred.
